Stewart Copeland

Stewart Copeland, founding member of the legendary rock band The Police, alongside Police Deranged for Orchestra and conducted by Eímear Noone, will feature some of The Police’s biggest hits as part of Galway International Arts Festival 2024. They will play Live at the Heineken Big Top on Wednesday, July 17.

With many of The Police’s biggest hits including Roxanne, Don’t Stand So Close To Me, Walking on the Moon, Every Breath You Take, Every Little Thing She Does is Magic and Message in a Bottle this unique concert features Copeland on drums, with guest vocalists and band alongside a 28-piece orchestra.

Copeland is a unique figure in the music world, renowned as the founder of The Police, a band that became a defining force in rock music from the 1980s through to the present day. He is also a seasoned and prolific composer in opera, ballet and orchestral music.

“My two decades before the mast as a hired-gun film composer had forced an education in orchestration upon me, and the idea formed to make this combination that brings us here tonight.  Sting’s songs, Andy’s inventions and my impunity, all on the page for a wild ride with Eimear Noone conducting a fantastic orchestra,” said Copeland.

Galway born, LA based Noone is an award–winning film and video game composer and conductor. As one of the world’s premier composers of games scores, she is responsible for some of the most enduring soundscapes on World of Warcraft. Noone also conducts orchestras worldwide and in 2020 she made history by becoming the first female conductor to perform at the 92nd Academy Award’s ceremony.
